Gothic Tales
Accelerated Gothic Tales: One of the most prevailing genres in American Literature is the Gothic Tale. This course will examine the progression of the Gothic tale in American Literature. Students will read novels, short stories, and poems and will write formal and informal papers analyzing the literature. There will also be a research component pertaining to the evolution of the Gothic Tale and society’s response and reaction to fear. For the accelerated offering there is also a study of the European Gothic.
Gothic Tales: Gothic Tales is a semester long senior elective. This course will examine the literary genre of the Gothic Tales and its place in American Literature. Students will explore the origins of the Gothic Tale and then will focus on how the Gothic Tale functions in American Society. The course will focus its study on the common motifs found in Gothic Literature.

gothic today is different from back then because today it means many things like darkness, mood, music, clothes/make-up, creepy, etc. but back then people thought sculpture, architecture, etc. i like reading about it because its interesting.
