John Stark 1, ConVal 3
The Generals Softball team suffered a tough defeat to Con-Val on Friday, losing 3-1. Despite a strong pitching effort by Brittany Hardy who gave up only one earned run and five hits while striking out six, the Generals were unable to score enough runs. Carly Cook, Jess Barrasso, Em Mulcahey, and Sam Kazakis collected the only hits for the Generals.
John Stark 7, Souhegan 2
On Saturday, in the midst of a three game losing streak, the Generals took on a strong Souhegan team and beat them soundly 7-2. The Generals scored single runs in the second and third innings and tacked on two in the fourth, before Souhegan rallied to plate 2 in the sixth. The Generals, behind the back to back to back doubles by Carly Cook, Em Mulcahey, and Meagan Keim, put the game out of reach by plating three runs. Sam “Nighthawk” Kazakis and Carly Cook each pounded out four hits to lead the 15-hit Generals attack. Brittany Hardy and battery-mate Liz St. Clair executed a perfect game plan to limit the Sabers offense to five hits and two runs, and sent down 8 batters via the K. With the win the Generals pushed their record to 6 and 6.
John Stark 2, Lebanon 3
Despite a furious seventh inning comeback, the Generals softball team fell to Lebanon 3-2. Brittany Hardy took the loss despite not giving up an earned run – striking out 7 batters and giving up two hits. Carly Cook led the Generals’ offense going 2 for 3. Jess Barrasso hit a tremendous triple in the seventh inning to give the Generals some life, and Em Mulcahey had a ringing single to drive in a run. The Generals look to rebound against Con-Val.
The Generals Softball team dropped a tough one on the road at Con-Val 3-0. The Carly Cook, Sam Kazakis, Kendra Barrasso, Cassie Fournier, and Brittany Hardy each collected hits. Hardy also pitched well allowing only six hits, while striking out 8 in seven innings. The Generals take on Lebanon next.

John Stark 11, Milford 5
The Generals Softball defeated Milford 11-5. The Generals fell behind early, but utilized timely hitting to secure the victory on the road. Both Madison Janelle and Cassie Fournier each collected a two-out, 2 run singles to propel the Generals’ offense. Kendra Barrasso (3 for 5), Sam “Nighthawk” Kazakis (2 for 3), and Brittany Hardy (2 for 3) also turned in strong offensive performances. Brittany Hardy struck out four to earn her fifth win of the season. Liz St. Clair did an excellent job behind the plate in her return from illness. The Generals travel to Con-Val next.
John Stark 12, Kearsarge 0
Jess Barrasso laced a double down the left field line in the 2nd inning and set the tone for the Generals Softball victory over Kearsarge, as the girls were able to cruise to a 12-0 victory. The Generals’ offense was highly efficient with Kendra Barrasso, Emily Mulcahey, and Carly Cook each collecting three hits. Becca Titcomb punctuated a seven-run fourth with a 230 foot three-run homerun over the centerfield fence. Kaliegh Tower roped a two-run double, which pushed across the final two runs in the fifth, for her first Varsity hit. Brittany Hardy struck out seven in five innings to earn her fourth win on the season. Madison Janelle and Samantha Kazakis turned in excellent defensive efforts for the Generals. The team plays Kearsarge at home on Wednesday.
John Stark 12, Lebanon 0
The Generals Softball team started off the break in style by pounding out 13 hits to beat Lebanon 12-0 in six innings. The Leading the General’s offense was Kendra Barrasso who collected three hits. Brittany Hardy, Carly Cook, and Becca Titcomb each collected two hits. Hardy tossed the complete game shutout, allowing only four hits while striking out 6.
John Stark 3, Bedford 8
The Generals then dropped a tough one to Division II, leading Bedford. The Generals had a 2-0 lead through four innings, but some timely hitting by Bedford couple with some defensive lapses allowed Bedford to come away with a 8-3 win over the Generals.
John Stark 1, Hollis 6
In a game which the Generals were playing short-handed against Hollis the Generals lost to the Cavaliers 6-1. Kirsten Miller made her Varsity début, and accounted for seven defensives outs with out an error at third. Madison Janelle, who was starting her first game at catcher, threw out all three potential base stealers. The Generals look to get back to WINNING today when they travel to Kearsarge to take on the Cougars.
John Stark 10, Pembroke 2
The “GO GO” Generals softball team tore-up the base-paths in route to a 10-2 victory over Pembroke. The Generals pounded out 11 hits and stole seven bases to secure the victory. Kendra Barrasso, Em “The Dragon” Mulcahey, Madison Janelle, and Megan Keim each collected two hits. The defense put in its best effort of the season with some spectacular plays by Keim and Courtney Lacerte. Brittany Hardy collected her second win of the season, giving up two unearned runs, while striking out seven Spartan batters. The Generals look to keep running on Wed against Lebanon.
John Stark 7, Windham 6 (8 innings)
Going into the seventh inning the Generals Softball team was down one run, but spurred on by a beautiful double play turned by Becca Titcomb on defense, the Generals offense was able to score Kendra Barrasso in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. In the eight, the defense was again solid, and set the table for the offense. In the bottom of the eight Titcomb, 3 for 4 on the day, singled and moved to second on a passed ball. Madison Janelle sacrificed her over to third. Sam “Nighthawk” Kazakis then drove her in with a single for the walk-off win. Brittany Hardy pitched a complete game to earn the win. Carly Cook (3 for 4), Cassie Fournier (2 for 4), and Kendra Barrasso (2 for 4) led the Generals’ offense. Next up: Pembroke.

The Generals Softball team dropped the home opener 8-5 despite a strong pitching effort by Brittany Hardy. Hardy gave up one earned run and struck out 13 in seven innings. The Generals celebrated Senior Night in style by defeating Bow 6-2 to wrap up the regular season. Brit Hardy allowed only 5 hits while striking out 10 in the complete game effort. Mia Fournies and Kelsey Francher each collected two hits and Molly Dussault chipped in with an RBI double. Liz St. Clair and Becca Titcomb keyed a strong defensive effort by the Generals. The entire softball team would like to thank Kelsey Francher, Molly Dussault, Ashley French, Megan Gosselin, and Mia Fournier for their four years of dedication to the program. Next up for the Generals … THE PLAYOFFS.

John Stark 1 – Lebanon 5
The Generals dropped a tough one in Lebanon losing 5-1. The Raider’s sophomore pitcher kept the Generals off-balance all day with a mix of fast ball and change-ups. Brit Hardy pitched well in the loss, collecting 4 strikeouts. Mia Fournier went two for three on the day and Em Mulcahey drove in the lone run for the Generals whose record fell to 10-5. Next up for the Generals: Bow.

John Stark 3 – Coe-Brown 4
Despite out hitting Coe-Brown 9-4 the Generals dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the Bears. Kelsey Francher drove in all three of the Generals Runs while going 4 for 4. Also, collecting hits for the Generals were Ashley French, Mia Fournier, Kendra Barrasso, Becca Titcomb, and Em Mulcahey. Brit Hardy took the loss in the circle allowing one earned run, while striking out 5 in the complete game effort. Next up for the Generals: Lebanon.

John Stark 3 – Con-Val 2 (9 innings)
The Generals Softball team battled for 9 innings to earn a dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind win against Con-Val. The Generals went down 2 to 0 in the bottom of the second, but stayed composed to score runs in the fourth and the sixth. Mia Fournier scored both runs – one on a Kelsey Francher single in the fourth and one on a Francher sacrifice fly in the sixth. Brit Hardy was tough-as-nails in the circle allowing three hits and 2 unearned runs, while striking out 9 to earn the victory. In the 9th Francher reached on a throwing error and advanced to second. Molly Dussault then grounded out to short and when Francher advanced to third, the Cougar first baseman overthrew the base and Francher scampered home with the go ahead run. In the bottom of the 9th Hardy walked the lead-off batter who stole second. Hardy came back to strike out the next two batters and with two out in the inning the runner at second tried to steal third, but was thrown out by Liz St. Clair to end the game. John Stark 11 – Bow 1
Em Mulcahey drew first blood against the Bow Falcons softball team lining a single up the middle with two outs to give the Generals an early lead. The Generals would pound out 16 more hits and score 10 more runs to defeat Bow 11-1. Brit Hardy was dominant in the circle, striking out 11 to earn her 9th win, and at the plate going 4 for 5 with two singles, a double, a triple and three RBI. Also pounding out hits for the Generals were: Steph Croatti (1 for 1), Ashley French (3 for 5), Mia Fournier (3 for 3), Kelsey Francher (1 for 4), Molly Dussault (2 for 4), Kendra Barrasso (1 for 4), and Jess Barrasso (1 for 1). Sammy Kazakis was a sparkplug on the bases and in the dugout! Next up for the Generals: Con-Val.

John Stark 10 – Hanover 1
The General’s Softball team pushed their record to 8-3 with a convincing 10-1 win over Hanover. Brit Hardy pitched the complete game, giving up one unearned run and two hits while striking out eleven. Hardy also went three for four at the plate driving in three runs. Kendra Barrasso went 3 for 4 in the lead-off spot and also scored four runs. Collecting hits for the Generals were: Ashley French, Kelsey Francher, Molly Dussault, Em Houchton, Em Mulcahey, Jess Barrasso, and Sam Kazakis. Liz St. Clair called another brilliant game behind the plate to anchor the General’s defense. Next up for the Generals: Bow.

John Stark 7 – Pembroke 5
The Generals outlasted Pembroke, finishing a tough, grueling week with a 7-5 victory. The Generals were up 6-1 late when a couple of fluky plays allowed Pembroke to push across a four unearned runs. Brit Hardy had an excellent day at the plate and in the circle – going 4 for 5 at the plate and allowing 0 earned runs while striking out 8 Spartan batters. Mia Fournier, Kelsey Francher, Steph Croatti, Molly Dussault, and Kendra Barrasso each collected two hits. Defensively Liz St. Clair and Emily Mulcahey anchored the General’s defense.

John Stark 0 – Beford 4
Brit Hardy to a tough-luck loss to Bedford 4-0 – allowing only three hits and one earned run in six innings. The Generals played a good game but unfortunately could not push any runs across the plate against a tough undefeated Bedford team. Leading the offense were Becca Titcomb (2 for 3), Kendra Barrasso (1 for 3) and Kelsey Francher (1 for 3). Up nest for the Generals – Pembroke.

The Generals Varsity Softball team rebounded nicely from a sub-par performance against Bishop Brady on Monday to defeat the Giants 7 to 3 in a rematch in Concord. The Generals jumped out early thanks to a 2 RBI triple off the bat of Molly Dussault. Kendra Barrasso followed with a single which put the Generals on top for good. Kesley Francher 3 for 4 and Brit Hardy 1 for 3 added ringing RBI triples to the Generals attack. Hardy was dazzling in the circle allowing 2 earned runs and three hits, while striking out four. Next up for the Generals: Bedford.

John Stark 5 – Bishop Brady 10
A shaky defensive effort by the John Stark Generals Softball team proved to be too much to overcome in a 10-5 loss to Bishop Brady. Brit Hardy pitched well striking out 4 and not allowing an earned run. The Generals offense was led by Kelsey Francher 2 for 2 with a three run homerun, Molly Dussault two hits, and Hardy two hits. The Generals will seek to avenge the loss when they travel to Brady for a rematch on Wednesday.

John Stark 10 – Kearsarge
The Generals pushed their record to 5-1 with a second victory over Kearsarge in as many days. The Generals left 14 runners on base, but were able to drive in 10 of them to collect the 10-2 victory. Brit Hardy entered the seventh with a no-hitter, but Kearsarge was able to collect two hits and two unearned runs. Hardy collected 7 strike outs on the day and notched her fifth win of the season. Pacing the Generals offense were Kelsey Francher 3-5, Molly Dussault 3-5, and Kendra Barrasso 4-4. Francher hit a monstrous three-run home run in the sixth to break open the game. Steph Croatti collected her first Varsity hit. The Generals next opponent: Bishop Brady.

John Stark 13 – Kearsarge 1
The Generals capitalized on the eleven walks issued by the Kearsarge pitcher to earn a 13-1 mercy rule victory in five-innings. The Generals were able to push runs across with excellent base-running and timely hitting. The big blow of the day came off the bat of Kelsey Francher who launched a three-run, third inning homerun over the fence in left. Francher, who was 2-2 on the day, was helped by hits from Ashley French, Brit Hardy, Molly Dussault, Kendra Barrasso, and Sam Kazakis. In the circle, Hardy allowed two hits and one unearned run, while striking out 7 to earn her fourth victory of the year. Next up for the Generals a rematch with Kearsarge.

John Stark 3 – Coe-Brown 2
The Generals earned a huge come-from-behind win against Coe-Brown, scoring 3 runs in the six, to pull ahead of the Bears and secure the win. Trailing 2-0 in the sixth, Mia Fournier collected a single. After Ashley French lined-out to deep center, Brit Hardy reached on an error. Sam Kazakis entered the game to run for Hardy. Kelsey Francher roped a triple to the right-center field fence plating Fournier and Kazakis. Molly Dussault followed with an RBI groundout. Hardy closed the door in the 7th with poise and command of all of her pitches. On the day, Hardy was outstanding – allowing only three hits, while collecting four strikeouts in the complete game victory. The Generals resume on Wed against rival Kearsarge.

John Stark 8 – Pembroke 2
The Generals rebounded from a tough outing against Souhegan on Wednesday by defeating Pembroke 8-2 behind a strong offensive display. The Generals pounded out 15 hits to power by the Spartans. Kendra Barrasso led the way going 4 for 4, and Ashley French (3 for 4), Kelsey Francher (3 for 4), and Becca Titcomb (2 for 3) helped generate offense throughout the line-up. Defensively, the Generals received strong performances from Titcomb at second base and Liz St. Clair behind the plate. Brittany Hardy was strong in the circle – striking out 6 in a complete game victory. Next up for the Generals – Coe-Brown on Monday.

John Stark 4 – Souhegan 15
The Generals softball team faced a hard hitting Souhegan team who pounded out 18 hits in route to a 15-4 Sabers victory. The Generals jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first, but a 9 hit 9 run Souhegan rally in the second proved to be too much to overcome for the Generals. Kendra Barrasso, Becca Titcomb and Kelsey Francher each collected hits for the Generals. Liz St. Clair turned in an excellent effort behind the plate for the Generals.

John Stark 9 – Lebanon 3
It was a day of firsts for the General’s Varsity Softball team in their 9-3 win against over Lebanon. The Generals collected their first win of the year, Brit Hardy collected her first Varsity win, and Em Houghton, Becca Titcomb, and Kendra Barrasso all had their first Varsity hits. Hardy pitched a four hitter, striking out five, while allowing 3 unearned runs in seven innings. The game was tied 3 to 3 in the fifth inning, when the Generals struck for four runs, highlighted by Houghton’s pinch hit 2 RBI single. The Generals scored two more in the sixth to seal the win. Ashley French and Molly Dussault anchored a strong, late-game defensive effort. Next up for the Generals: Bedford.
